Tia L. Cottey represents servicers and special servicers in all aspects of CMBS serving matters, with particular emphasis on pooling and servicing agreements, REMIC and lender issues in connection with post-securitization loan modifications, assumptions and defeasances.
Prior to joining Powell Goldstein, Ms. Cottey was of counsel at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP and a partner at Kilpatrick Stockton LLP in Atlanta, Georgia, where she focused on the representation of servicers in connection with CMBS servicing matters.
Previously, Ms. Cottey was senior counsel at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she focused on the origination of commercial mortgage loans for securitization in the secondary market. Prior to joining Cadwalader, Ms. Cottey was assistant general counsel for nine years in Bank of America's legal department with responsibility for the Real Estate Capital Markets Group.
