Stuart Johnson is a Partner in the Business & Finance practice and the Co-Chair of Powell Goldstein's Private Equity Practice Team. Mr. Johnson has extensive experience in the areas of middle-market business transactions and in the private equity and venture capital markets.

Mr. Johnson's representative experience includes:

  • Consummating acquisitions, sales, joint ventures, private equity investments and strategic partnerships for public and private companies

  • Lead counsel of transactions in the telecommunications, manufacturing, plastics, home building, business services, chemicals, logistics, food services and health care industries

  • Counseling private companies in structuring relationships between business owners, employment matters, succession planning and state and federal tax planning

  • Assisting foreign clients in the planning and implementation of their business operations in the United States and in the planning and execution of international business activities

Mr. Johnson is the author of, and has been quoted in, numerous articles relating to mergers & acquisitions trends and activities, particularly relating to growth-oriented businesses and private equity transactions. He has organized and participated in numerous business growth and business expansion programs at institutions such as the Georgia Institute of Technology, Emory University, Georgia State University, and Kennesaw State University. He has also addressed comparable topics at a variety of other conferences held by organizations such as the Georgia Society of CPAs, the Atlanta Business School Alliance, the Technology Association of Georgia, Lorman Educational Services and the Academy of Management. He is a founder of the ACG Atlanta Capital Connection, which is the largest M&A and Private Equity conference in the Southeastern United States. He has presented at, and has been on the planning committee for the Southeastern M&A Forum, and has been a faculty member for the Alliance for Mergers and Acquisitions Advisors' Certified Mergers and Acquisitions Advisor credentialing program.

Mr. Johnson serves in leadership positions in a variety of professional and community organizations, such as the Association for Corporate Growth, the American Bar Association, the Boy Scouts of America and Junior Achievement of Georgia.
