W. Scott Sorrels is a partner who concentrates in assisting clients in a corporate crisis environment. His experience includes conducting internal investigations, dealing with government and regulatory investigations, and representing clients in class action, direct, and derivative litigation, along with handling the related corporate governance issues that arise in these situations.  Mr. Sorrels serves as the Firm's Operations Partner and is a member of the Firm's Executive Committee.

 He has extensive experience working with boards, audit committees and special committees of public entities. These engagements have included restatements, missed regulatory filing deadlines and internal control failures, to 10A investigations into alleged illegal acts affecting financial statements and the client's relationship with independent auditors. Various forensic investigations have involved financial fraud, revenue recognition, and officer or director misconduct or alleged breach of fiduciary duty. 

For three years prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Sorrels was an enforcement attorney for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Mr. Sorrels continues to work in the enforcement area.  He is the author of numerous articles relating to investigations, securities litigation, disclosure issues, and director and officer duties and responsibilities, and has served as co-chair for the advanced seminar program, "Securities Litigation and Regulatory Practice" for the past fourteen years.
