John T. Marshall is the former chair of the litigation department at Powell Goldstein. He serves as an arbitrator or mediator in the commercial area, concentrating in banking, securities, products liability, professional liability, trusts and estates and business litigation.
Mr. Marshall appears at numerous professional seminars throughout the year, speaking on litigation, alternative dispute resolution, ethics and related topics. Formerly special counsel to the Ethics Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, Mr. Marshall has appeared in the role of Presidential Counsel on the public television series "The Advocates."
Mr. Marshall serves on the Supreme Court of Georgia's Board to Determine Fitness of Bar Applicants and the Board of the Georgia Eye Bank. He is active in a number of professional and community organizations.
Mr. Marshall has been selected for the 2006, 2007 and 2008 editions of The Best Lawyer in America. Additionally, he has been recognized by Atlanta Magazine as a 2007 and 2008 Georgia Superlawyer and was recognized by Chambers USA as a 2007 Georgia General Commercial Litigation Senior Statesman.
Mr. Marshall has received awards from the following:
American Inns of Court Professionalism Award for 11th Judicial Circuit; ALI - American Bar Association's Harrison Tweed Award (teaching trial evidence); State Bar of Georgia's Distinguished Service Award; State Bar of Georgia's Tradition of Excellence Award (service to bar and community); State Bar of Georgia's A. Gus Cleveland Award (service to continuing legal education); Atlanta Bar Association's Charles E. Watkins, Jr. Award (service to Bar); Atlanta Bar Association's Leadership Award; Atlanta Bar Association's Professionalism Award; Atlanta Volunteer Lawyer Foundation's Phil Heiner Award (legal service to indigents) and Georgia State's Ben F.
