Joseph Berl focuses his practice in the area of corporate and securities law and has for approximately thirty-five years. He divides his practice between representing clients in corporate transactions and in business disputes or in enforcement proceedings involving the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Mr. Berl represents businesses at all stages of development and in a variety of industries. He assists clients with private offerings of securities, public offerings of securities, mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures. He has represented clients in sales or acquisitions of a bank, insurance company, software developer, medical reimbursement company, real estate venture and wholesale beer distributorship. He has counseled corporations in the formation and dissolution of joint ventures in diverse businesses. In public offerings of securities he has represented companies as varied as an Internet service provider, an investment adviser, a life insurance company and a cable television operator.

Mr. Berl has represented brokers, dealers, investment advisors, mutual funds, public companies, privately held corporations and individuals in connection with investigations and enforcement proceedings brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission. He also represents clients in disputes involving the federal securities laws and state corporate statutes. He regularly counsels public companies, hedge funds, investment advisers, broker-dealers and other clients on compliance with the federal securities laws and state corporate law obligations.
