Barney Stewart III focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions and securities law matters, including mergers and acquisitions of public and private companies, public and private offerings of debt and equity securities, going-private transactions, tender offers, corporate anti-takeover measures and compliance matters under federal and state securities laws. His acquisition practice has recently focused on the acquisition of rural local exchange carriers, competitive local exchange carriers and cable television systems.
Mr. Stewart's extensive experience in securities law includes coordinating and supervising numerous private placements and registering public offerings for corporate clients over the last thirty years. He also advises officers and directors of public companies regarding compliance with fiduciary responsibilities, including compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.
Mr. Stewart has been a frequent speaker and panelist at corporate and securities law seminars sponsored by the North Carolina Bar Foundation and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
