Attorney Jerry Blanchard likes to chill in his leisure time, but he doesn't do it in a reclining chair.

Blanchard, who specializes in banking law at Powell Goldstein LLP, flies to places like Iceland and Banff, Canada, to scale sheer cliffs of ice ranging from 50 feet to hundreds of feet high. Sometimes, he said, the ice is solid and sometimes the sound of rushing water below the surface crust is audible.

"It's incredibly relaxing," said Blanchard.
