In Their Own Words Chris Rodgers, Partner, Business Transactions & Corporate Finance
In terms of professional development, I think Powell Goldstein does a great job of giving associates and summer associates as much responsibility and control over matters as that associate or summer associate feels comfortable in assuming. Because matters are typically staffed based upon the needs of the matter rather than on a rigid hierarchy, I think associates are given a greater opportunity to work directly with partners and senior associates who have expertise in the given area. By being given this opportunity to take additional initiative and work directly with skilled senior attorneys, I believe associates are able to develop their lawyering skills at a much greater rate.
