Louis C. Spelios

Powell Goldstein partner Louis C. Spelios was lead counsel to the world's largest carpet maker, Shaw Industries Group Inc., on its agreement to purchase a South Carolina maker of hardwood floors.

Shaw Industries last month said it will acquire the Anderson Family of Companies, which makes hardwood floors under the brand names Appalachian, Virginia Vintage and Biltmore Estate. Terms weren't disclosed, and Spelios declined to comment on the details of the deal.

Shaw Industries of Dalton is owned by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway conglomerate. Anderson of Clinton, S.C., was founded in 1946 by L.W. "Andy" Anderson and is still operated by his descendants. Leatherwood Walker Todd & Mann partner Frank C. Williams III in Greenville, S.C., advised Anderson.
