Clif Burns, a partner at law firm Powell Goldstein LLP in Washington, said the widely held perception is that the global risk security office is not terribly effective. He added that the SEC must make sure that companies that sell products to questionable countries should be required to make serious disclosure, which includes continuing to make that information available through annual and quarterly financial reports.
