In addition to our attorneys who specialize in intellectual property matters, our Government Contracts team regularly addresses IP issues faced by our contractors in their dealings with the government.

The accepted rules used in the commercial marketplace do not apply to the government customer even in the context of commercial contract procurements, and sometimes reconciling the divergent laws and regulations can be extremely complicated. We help our clients navigate the shoals of licensing and data rights issues, patent, trademark and copyright. We assist in protecting and leveraging our clients' intellectual property rights.

Together, we have:

• Succesfully negotiated licensing agreements and resolved licensing disputes for a telecommunications provider
• Represented software manufacturers in an appeal against the U.S. Navy for violation of a software licensing agreement
• Conducted an internal investigation and represented an IT provider in a subsequent Qui Tam litigation that arose in part from alleged violations of a licensing agreement
• Negotiated licensing agreements for global positioning system-based technology
• Represented defense contractors in the resolution of licensing disputes with the Department of Defense over weapons systems
