Our Sports and Entertainment attorneys are problem-solving counselors and deal makers to the some of the country's leading sports, marketing and entertainment companies.
Lawyers in each of our practice groups have experience with the unique issues arising from the sports, media and entertainment businesses. We have discovered that there are unique issues surrounding those businesses, such as the rules of applicable sports leagues and players' associations, First Amendment issues arising from the development of new media, or tax issues arising from associated not-for-profit foundations. Using our integrated Client Service Team approach, we have assisted our clients in protecting valuable rights and crafting creative solutions.
Together, we have:
- Acquired sports, entertainment and broadcast businesses
- Represented sports teams and other sports and entertainment properties, including negotiating broadcast and sponsorship agreements
- Acted as general counsel to major entertainment properties, handling all business aspects of those entertainment properties for our clients, including issues relating to promotions and marketing
- Represented media and sports clients in litigation and dispute resolution issues, including in connection with First Amendment issues, libel suits and player negotiations, including issues arising out of anti-doping regulations
- Represented sports marketing agencies, including in connection with US and international acquisitions
- Represented entertainers and athletes, including estate planning and immigration advice and counsel
- Negotiated trademark license and sponsorship agreements, and assisted in the enforcement of copyright and trademark rights against infringers
- Assisted in the development of intellectual property rights for new media technologies, such as real-time score reporting technologies
