Because taxes are inevitable with any transfer of wealth, be it during life or at death, affluent individuals seek innovative approaches to minimize tax liabilities.

Our estate and succession planning attorneys help clients transfer wealth at minimum tax cost both during life and upon death. We have designed and implemented tax-saving strategies for estates of all sizes.

Members of our tax team who focus on estate and succession planning include the Chairman of the Georgia Probate Code Revision Committee, which produced the complete revision of Georgia law governing probate in 1998; members of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel; and members and Past-President of the Atlanta Estate Planning Council.

Together, we have:

  • Drafted detailed wills, trusts and other instruments to effectuate and memorialize transfers of assets during life and upon death

  • Planned for family wealth transfers and business succession

  • Advised executors, administrators, trustees and guardians on the probate of wills, construction and interpretation of wills and trusts, and administration of estates and trusts

  • Represented individuals and corporate executors, trustees and beneficiaries in probate and fiduciary-related litigation

  • Planned for asset protection

  • Encouraged philanthropic activity and helped individuals establish and operate private foundations and other tax-exempt organizations
