The United States Constitution authorizes Congress to grant authors "the exclusive Right to their Writings" for a limited time. (Article I, section 8, clause 8). This is the foundation for the copyright which, since the time of the drafting of the Constitution, has been broadened to include not only "writings" in the common sense, but any original (although not necessarily new) "work of authorship." Today everything from books to sound recordings to computer programs may be protected under the ever-expanding umbrella of copyright law.
The experienced copyright attorneys at Powell Goldstein carefully monitor and research the changing parameters of the copyright horizon. By doing so, our attorneys enable the Firm's clients to obtain valuable copyright protection not only for works traditionally covered by the law, but also for creations whose protection is only now evolving.
